8 Years Ago Today We Witnessed The Greatest Play In CFB History

Eight years ago today, the greatest play in college football took place. Alabama and Auburn were tied at 28-28 with one second remaining on the clock when Nick Saban decided to attempt a 57 yard field goal to win the Iron Bowl. What happened next, was absolute chaos.

The kick was short, and Chris Davis ran it back 109 yards and became an instant legend. Not only was this one of the greatest plays in CFB history, the Auburn radio network call by Rod Bramblett may be the greatest of all time as well. I had no dog in this fight, but still to this day get goosebumps listening to this call. Absolutely ELECTRIC!

“Auburn’s gonna win the football game! Auburns gonna win the football game! He ran the missed field goal back! He ran it back 109 yards… they’re not gonna keep ‘em off the field tonight!” This is why we love sports.
