499 Down, 1 To Go For Future HOF Miguel Cabrera’s Quest For 500 Homeruns

On August 11th, 2021 Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers played the second game of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles. In the top of the 5th inning, the game was tied 0-0 with 1 out and then Cabrera came to the plate against Matt Harvey. Miguel Cabrera cracked a hanging curve from Matt Harvey on a 1-2 count to left-center to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead and to also close the gap to the historic number of five hundred to just one.

This will be just another notch on the belt of an already hall of fame career of Miguel Cabrera once he achieves the milestone. It hasn’t been the easiest of rides for Miguel Cabrera for the past few seasons, he saw his world series team get dismantled right in front of his eyes as the Tigers started their slow painful rebuild in 2015 and has continued ever since. Miguel is the only player still on the Tigers roster that was on that 2012 world series losing team and only wants to win but has been a great mentor to young ballplayers in Detroit. What a career it has been and the end is near but before it’s all said and done he should reach 500 career Homeruns and 3,000 career hits joining only five other players to accomplish the feat.
